HEALTHY MIND HEALTHY BODY RESOURCES, “THIRD EDITION” IN FRENCH AND ENGLISH ARE NOW AVAILABLE

It is our pleasure to announce that Healthy Mind Healthy Body Resources, “Third Edition” in French and English are now available. The mental health content and language has been refined to reflect cultural, contextual, and current norms.

Healthy Mind Healthy Body is a school curriculum program designed for classroom delivery by K-12 schoolteachers, to increase school-age children mental health awareness, literacy and reduce the stigma affecting youth experiencing mental health challenges. The program is meant to fill a recognized gap that exists in schools, as a complementary resource to the Health / Personal Development and Relationships curriculum.

Healthy Mind Healthy Body provides a foundation to assist teachers initiate discussions with students with confidence, answer questions, and suggested guidance how to address sensitive topics. The program aims to promote positive child and youth emotional and mental health development by focusing on understanding feelings, body image, positive self-identity, healthy decision-making, life skills, and recognizing warning signs of mental health disorders to facilitate help-seeking behaviour.

Content and recommended mental health literacy gradually increase from Resource 1 to Resource 3 in keeping with school-age-appropriate comprehension levels. The resources are evidence based, developed with the input of educators, parents, adolescents, mental health experts, Nova Scotia Ministry of Education consultants and senior stakeholders, as well as researchers from Dalhousie University. Healthy Mind Healthy Body is an approved resource by Departments of Education in several districts/provinces/states in North America.

Healthy Mind Healthy Body resources “Second Edition” will be offered at a 50% rebate while supplies last.
